When I think of Mario, I see him jumping over barrels thrown by Donkey Kong, jumping from platform to platform to save Princess Peach or competing against Sonic the Hedgehog in the Olympics. Until I saw this amazing cake made by Ana Fuji, from the Philippines, I’d never thought of Mario, his friends, and foes playing chess.

I love how the side of the chess board is adorned with characters and items that you’d find within Mario’s world.
Ana made the chess board with chocolate cake and the figures with fondant. Everything on this amazing chess board is edible.
