Saint Patrick’s Day Cake

Here’s a cake that my daughter and I made for her Irish grandmother. The symbol on the front of the cake is a claddagh.  The claddagh is a symbol of friendship (hands), love (heart) and loyalty (crown).  The sides are painted green, white, and orange, the colors of the Irish Flag. The knots on top, both the orange one and the green one underneath it,  are traditional Irish knots. The interesting thing about Irish knots is they are symbols for eternity because they have no beginning and no end. 

The claddagh is white chocolate painted with luster dust.  The cake was covered in fondant and the designs were airbrushed. This was the first cake I ever airbrushed.
