World’s Greatest Science Fiction Cake

There are many amazing cakes and there are even more amazing Sci-Fi television shows, but very rarely do you find so much of both in one place. There are references to 49 different Sci-Fi things. This is one cake that has something for everyone. This cake was made by Kimberly Chapman for That Takes the Cake competition.

 

 

The first layer of the cake starts with Leeloo Dallas( Fifth Element) showing her multi-pass to a  Man in Black (Men in Black). The main attraction of this cake is the Alien Queen(Alien) who is going on a date with Predator(Predator) , thus the bow in her hair and the bouquet of roses in his hands. If you look to the left you will see the Ambassador from Mars Attacks looking at a movie poster and right behind him is an ape from Planet of The Apes. To the right is Morbo aliens from Galaxy Quest and behind them is Morbo (Futurama) reading a newspaper.  Be sure to notice The Tardis (Doctor Who) behind the Predator. Also while you can’t see it on the exterior brickwork, five bricks are different colors to represent the notes from the alien communication in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”.  Also behind scenes the Little Green Man engages in an act of vandalism to declare that “Han Shot First” (Star Wars).

Little Green Man engages in an act of vandalism to declare that “Han Shot First” (Star Wars).

 

 

The Second layer while it has fewer people is no less spectacular. The first person you see is Diana( Visitors) who is heading to the bathroom to repair her fake skin. Then up a ways is Marvin the Martin(Looney Tunes) ordering concessions from a MIB. To the left of him is Audrey II(Little Shop of Horrors). Be sure to notice that the MIB is selling popcorn with Butter, Spoo(Babylon 5), or Spice. He also sells Soylent Crunchies( Soylent Green), Reese’s Pieces (ET), Stay Puft Marshmallows( Ghostbusters) in little bags at the counter. The vending machine serves Slurm (Futurama).  Milliways, the restaurant at the end of the universe (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), is written on the the elevator.

If you’ve ever seen a Comic-Con held in a movie theater then it might of looked something like this except for the vaporized person. I have to say that this is probably my favorite part cause what’s better then a bunch of aliens watching “Plan 9 from Outer Space” 

 

From the top row over the audience is the Conehead family (The Coneheads), a Na’vi (Avatar) with 3-D glases, G’Kar and Londo Mollari (Babylon 5) who is stealing his spoo-popcorn. The middle row is ALF(ALF) Monolith (2001 Space Odyssey) and Han Solo in Carbonite (Star Wars) are sharing a bowl of popcorn, Dalek9 Doctor Who) vaporizing a person who was talking on a cellphone and Zaphod Beeblebrox (Hithchikers Guide to the Galaxy). The bottom row starts with the cast of MST3K then the vaporized person, ET eating Reese’s, C-3PO, and R2-D2( Star Wars). 

 

 

As a table decoration she made a shrink ray parking lot for space ships. From right to left the ships are Satellite of Love (MST3K), Klaatu’s Ship (The Day The Earth Stood Still), Visitor Transport (V), Borg Cube (Star Trek), Babylon 5, and the Lone Star’s Winnebago (Spaceballs). Also on the cake is the Enterprise (Star Trek), Tie Fighter (Star Wars), and  Death Star (Star Wars).
