This stunning Spider-Man Cake was made by Cake Central member Arielatl. Arielatl started with a dummy head, and used fondant to shape it until it looked like Spider-Man’s head. Once the head had the correct shape, it was covered completely in fondant. The eyes, which are cut out of fondant, were added. Spidey’s head was covered in webbing and left to dry for a few days.
Arielatl than filled and stacked two 10″ cakes for the middle, and split an 8″ cake into quarters for the shoulders. Arielatl carved away all of the sharp edges and shaped the Spidey’s chest.
Arielatl crumb-coated the bottom, and covered it in fondant. A shallow circle the size of the base of the head was then cut out of the cake’s top. The head was then placed on the cake and held in place by two dowels.
Lastly, Arielatl finished the rest of the webbing on the body, and cut the spider out of fondant.
