The Potter Memorial

This terrific edible recreation of the Potter Memorial was made by Just a Little Dessert Co.  Viki made this for the Harry Potter Themed cake collaboration – Birthday Mischief Managed.  Birthday Mischief Managed is a worldwide collaboration of food artists to celebrate J.K. Rowling’s 50th Birthday. The collaboration went live on July 31st, the date of H.K. Rowling’s and Harry Potter’s birthdays.

The Potter Memorial

Viki created this stunning hand painted portrait of the Potter Memorial. She used fondant, cocoa butter, and edible petal dust to complete this piece.  I really like how Viki chose to paint everything in shades of black, white, and grey.  It gives her piece a sadness which is appropriate for this memorial.  The snow falling and covering everything adds to the somber mood.  Viki’s hand painting is terrific.  The Orange ribbon on top is a memorial to J. K. Rowlings mother.

The Potter Memorial

From the Harry Potter Wiki:

“The Potter memorial is a statue at the centre of the village square in Godric’s Hollow. From a distance, it appears as an obelisk, carved with the names of people who died in a war (presumably Muggle casualties of World War I or II). While Muggles can see only this obelisk, a witch or wizard can see that the memorial changes into a statue of a family as he or she approaches: James, Lily, and an infant Harry Potter.”
