Welcome to the Future! 

In the movie, Back to the Future II, Doc Brown uses the DeLorean time machine to bring Marty and Jennifer to Hill Valley, California, on this date Wednesday, October 21st, 2015 at 4:29 P.M 

This version of the future reminds me a little of the opening sequence for The Jetsons.

In their future on this day, there are flying cars that speed through the sky on a skyway. This skyway has lighted signs suspended in the air and exit ramps marked by lights leading down to the ground. There is even a crazy taxi driver who zooms by and almost hits them in the sky. 

A weather service controls the weather and rain down to the second. As they arrive in Hill Valley, it is raining very hard. It changes to bright sunlight at exactly the time that Dr. Emmett Brown knows it is scheduled to change. Wouldn’t it be nice to know exactly when it would be raining and when it would be sunny.

Marty encounters flying hover boards, jackets that, at the push of a button, automatically resize to fit the owner and automatically dry when wet. Marty puts on shoes with power laces that automatically tighten to fit his foot. Marty pulls out his pants pockets because all the people are wearing them inside out.

Justice is swift and all lawyers are abolished. Marty’s son is tried and convicted within 2 hours and sent to jail for 15 years.   

The movie Jaws 19 is playing in Holomax. A hologram of a shark comes out of the movie theatre and comes up to Marty and the teeth and mouth close over Marty and then everything disappears. Our 3D movies are not quite this sophisticated.

Prices are somewhat high in this alternate reality though. Marty buys a Pepsi Perfect for $50 in Cafe 80’s.  The cafe has a waitress on a television screen taking someone’s order at the counter. A screen with a man greets Marty. Monitors move around to the tables to take orders. Pepsi Perfect is in an upside-down pepsi bottle.  A bat in Grif’s hands expands, from something relatively small, to a full length bat. Grif grows in size and strength due to Bionic implants.  I’m glad our restaurants still have people for waitresses and waiters and that drinks are $2 instead of $50.

This cake is a wonderful edible representation of the DeLorean time machine in the Back To The Future universe with Doc Brown, Marty McFly, and Einstein beside it. This Fabulous Back To The Future Birthday Cake was made by Black Cherry Cake Company. 

Back To The Future takes place in 1985 and goes back 30 years to 1955.

Back To The Future II takes place in 1985 and goes forward 30 years to 2015 and then goes back 100 years to 1885.

Back To The Future III takes place in 1885 and returns to their present of 1985.

At the end of the third movie, Back To The Future III, Doc Brown says,

“Your future hasn’t been written yet. No one’s has.

Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one.”

So I encourage everyone, Make your future a good one!
