Your Favorite Supervillains Have Been Infected With March Madness

Every year, Paul O’Connor holds a March Madness Tournament on his website Longbox Graveyard. This years theme is supervillains. The top 15 seeds come from IGN list of the top 100 Supervillains, the 16th seed will be chosen by fans. To vote, just head over to Longbox Graveyard.

Imagine if Magneto, Joker, Doctor Doom, Lex Luthor, Galactus, Darkseid, Ra’s Al Ghul, Loki, Dark Phoenix, Kingpin, Catwoman (Go Team Catwoman Cat face ), Two-Face, Green Goblin, Red Skull, and Sinestro were in one massive cage match. Who’d win? I thought about it and came up with a really cool answer.

This marvelous Magneto Cake was made by Carla Puig – Sugar Atelier.

Doctor Doom and Lex Luthor are probably the two smartest people in the battle. While Doom is brilliant, has some sorcerer skills, is wearing an armor which has tons of gadgets built in, he is wearing a metal suit. Magneto can take out Doom from a mile away.

The Flour Bin made this fantastic Doctor Doom Cake.

Kingpin is smart, cunning, big and strong, but he isn’t suited for a cage match. Darkseid’s Omega Beams (the beams that Darkseid shoots from his eyes) would finish him off in seconds.

Without the cosmic cube / tesseract, The Red Skull loses his edge. He is still a good fighter but he is no match for Galactus.

Ra’s Al Ghul can hold his own in hand to hand combat with Batman and I think has defeated him a few times. While Two-Face is flipping his coin to make up his mind, Ra’s Al Ghul would take him out.

Catwoman is my favorite supervillain, but she’s no match for Dark Phoenix.

This Fabulous Bronze Bust of The Joker is a cake that was made by Crazy Sweets.

The matchup that I thought was too close to call was Green Goblin vs. The Joker. I asked my followers on Twitter and to my surprise Green Goblin won easily.

I don’t know if Darkseid and Sinestro have ever battled each other in the comic books. But, it would be an epic battle. Both are extremely powerful, violent, and tricky. But, Sinestro is dependent on his ring. On the other hand, Darkseid power seems limitless. Once Sinestro’s ring begins to falter, the victory would go to Darkseid.

Ra’s Al Ghul and Lex Luthor are both brilliant. But, Luthor’s strength is planning and inventing. Ra’s is a great hand to hand fighter and would take down Luthor.

Magneto doesn’t have to get close to Green Goblin to battle him. So before the Goblin could get in range, Magneto would have won.

Thanks to the Lazarus Pit, Ra’s Al Ghul is nearly immortal. But, Loki is immortal. Ra’s is the better fighter, but Loki’s illusions and magic would win the day.

That leaves five standing: Magneto, Galactus, Darkseid, Loki, and Dark Phoenix.

Magneto is one of the strongest mutants in comics, but Dark Phoenix is a cosmic entity of almost infinite power. Dark Phoenix would easily win.

This creeptastic Zombie Magneto Cake was made by the Bleeding Heart Bakery.

Darkseid and Loki are both gods. Loki is a all about deception. Darkseid is all about power. Loki’s illusions would keep at Darkseid at bay for a little while, but Darkseid is so powerful that he’d defeat Loki.

This stunning Heath Ledger Joker Cake was made by KupKake Tree.

That leaves – Galactus, Darkseid, and Dark Phoenix. I think Galactus size would be his downfall. He is so large that he has to consume mindboggling amounts of energy. So, I think Galactus would be the first of these three to fall.

Darkseid is nearly impossible to defeat in combat, but Dark Phoenix manipulates energy on a scale unlike almost any other character in comic books. So while I think Dark Phoenix is the clear winner, I don’t think that is how it would end. The Phoenix Force needs a host. I think presented with the chance, Dark Phoenix would leave its current host and possess Darkseid. I can’t imagine a much better host, because a Dark Phoenix Darkseid would be unbeatable.
