This Terrific Star Wars Cake features a Rancor. This Ferocious Rancor cake was made by Ana Remigio of Cupcakes & Dreams Portugal. There are sculls and bones belonging to previous victims of Jabba’s displeasure on the ground around the rancor. This rancor has sharp teeth and huge paws. Jabba would open a trap door and drop anyone he wanted to execute on the spot down to the rancor pit where they would be eaten by the rancor.
This cake was part of Star Wars: The Bakers Strike Back cake collaboration where a long time ago in a kitchen far far away…… 40 rebel bakers joined forces to bring together sugar art like no other and celebrate the release of Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens.
The most famous rancor in the Star War universe was the one that was kept under the main room of Jabba The Hutt’s Palace. In Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker falls into the rancor pit. Luke successfully fights and defeats the rancor, but not before the rancor eats one of the guards that fell down into the rancor pit with him.
The original concept for the rancor was an animal that was a cross between a bear and a potato.
