This Marvelous Lighthouse Cake was made by Suzanne Readman.
This Marvelous Lighthouse Cake was made for the Sweet Summer Collaboration which is a cake collaboration of more than 200 Cake Artists from around the world to celebrate summer in the sweetest way.
Here is Suzanne’s description of her Fabulous cake:
Living on an island lighthouses are a common sight along our coastline and I wanted to celebrate them in my piece along with another common sight at UK beach resorts, the beach hut. The lighthouse has no internal supports and has been created using pastillage. The dummy cakes are an 8×3″ hexagon and a 6×2″ round. To get the height for the beach huts, I used pastilage to build up from the base dummy and out from the top one. This was also done with pastillage with the decorations being completed with sugarpaste. The roofs are decorated to look like a sea surrounding the lighthouse island. The sun is made from Saracino.
This lighthouse lights up.
