Here is Carol’s description of her Marvelous cake topper:
My fishing hut. This piece was inspired by a house I saw on my vacation to Cambodia. I did use some artistic license to make it my own. I wanted to be a purest for this piece and have everything edible, unfortunately one thing is not edible and that was the fishing string which I had to use sewing thread. The pillars, roof supports, and roof are made from pastillage and covered in either fondant, modeling chocolate, or gumpaste. They were then textured using sugar shapers and colored using gels, lusters and petal dusts. The wood planks were made with gumpaste and textured the same was as the rest of the faux wood. The tin roof was made from gumpaste dried over a wavy texture mat. The crab traps and fishing net was made using Swank Cake’s Fabulace and the Claire Bowman’s fishnet mat. The water is an turquoise tinted piping gel.
