I made these hand drawn Santa Pooh Christmas Cookies for my husband’s birthday. There are two cookie in this set.
The first cookie features Pooh, Piglet and Tigger carrying a Christmas tree. I really like the design of this cookie, because Piglet is so small that his feet don’t even touch the ground. Unfortunately, Piglet was so small on the cookie that I had trouble coloring him with my edible marker. To make the two cookies match, I used the same background color and I added a holly trim around the outer edge of both cookies. I needed a way to make the central image and the trim to match, so I gave Pooh and Tigger scarfs that were the same green as the Christmas tree and holly.
The second cookie has Winnie the Pooh, wearing a Santa hat and holding a Christmas present. I used two different color schemes for this cookie. The background and edge are two shades of green and a little red for Holly berries. The red I used for the Holly is the same color I used for the central image of Winnie the Pooh. For Pooh, I used three colors – a golden yellow for Pooh’s fur, red and white. That’s why the Christmas present is wrapped in white paper and has a red ribbon.
These cookies are based on drawings by Kei Phillips. She works for Disney. Her artwork has appeared on multiple pieces of Disney merchandise. When you have a few minutes, check out the link above. Her work is really charming.
I have found a preferred flavor for my cookies. I made the cookies from chocolate mint cookie dough. Then, I covered them in mint flavored light green royal icing. That combination is so yummy!
I have a collection of edible markers in a bunch of different colors. I used them to draw the two images – Pooh holding a Christmas present & Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet carrying home a Christmas tree. I also used them to draw the Holy trim around the outside of the cookie.
